Team Planning - How and When: The team met five times in total, outside of school, in order to plan, brainstorm, and organize together. Responsibilities were clearly laid out in the beginning of the year, so everyone knew what they were getting themselves into before they applied for team member positions through a google form Suzie and Apple created in the summer. By dividing the roles evenly in the beginning and keeping with these responsibilities, were were able to stay on task with very few reminders needing to be made. We all also helped each other when needed and collaborated, so it was a very smooth process this year.

Team Events - Mural - The purpose of our mural is to raise awareness about the importance of sleep through visual stimulating others with art. We received advice from Ms. R, Julie Flygare from Project Sleep, and many others in order to make our mural happen. Ultimately though, it was our members who bought the materials, designed the mural, and painted it.
Dream Journals - We made dream journals so people could log and track their dreams more efficiently. We shared this with them as a way to help release anxiety. In addition, members could decorate their own journals too.
Dreamcatchers - These have been embedded in Native American culture and have a longstanding tradition of helping others with peace of mind when dealing with bad dreams. We knew our classmates would love this hands-on activity and it was very directly related with spreading awareness about the importance of sleep.
Sleep Blankets - This event was special to us because we were able to make DIY blankets and donate them to those in need. We bought more expensive fabric with stars on it to continue with the theme of sleep.
Face Masks - Similar to last year, we held a workshop where our peers were invited to make face masks to either help them destress before bed or be invigorated in the morning.
Team Bonding/Building - At each of our meetings, our team grew closer together and become better listeners. We learned to respect other people's ideas and think creatively in a non-judgmental space. We organized and planned many of our events in advance, in addition to our weekly meetings.
Informational Club Meetings - These club meetings took place regularly in order to spread the importance of sleep and engage with our community. Through our club we helped others understand what sleep related disorders are and helped others work through them.
Say Hey Day/Mental Health Awareness Events - At these events dedicated to health and wellness, our club fit right in. We were given the opportunity to better our school community and work with and alongside other organizations who also came out monthly to help our peers out, like Teen Line.
Girls Build Expo Field Trip - We worked really hard to have more people attend the expo this year than last year. We ended up scrambling to organize an entire field trip where many students attended the life changing event. Our board members had to give mini speeches about our club in order to entice people to come, but in the end everyone enjoyed it and we all learned so much.
