​Sleep and Stress: Our Journey on Thursdays at Lunch in Room 134

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The John Marshall High School Girls Build Club will have as its purpose to inform and educate our classmates and community about the importance of sleep. Our purpose and goal is to host activities where we will make items that help LAUSD students de-stress before bed. Through this club we will produce a solution to the problem of sleep deprivation. We will help improve the health and wellness of our fellow classmates.

-COLLAGEN REPAIRS DAMAGED SKIN DURING SLEEP
-MUSCLE AND TISSUE REPAIR DURING SLEEP
-36% OF AMERICANS ARE DROWSY OR FALL ASLEEP WHILE DRIVING



-LIFE SPAN IS SHORTENED IF YOU SLEEP LESS THAN 6 OR MORE THAN 9 HOURS ON A REGULAR BASIS
-SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN FOOD DEPRICATION
-TIREDNESS PEAKS TWICE A DAY: 2AM &2PM

10 ways to sleep better at night: 
​

1. form a night time routine
2. use your bed only for sleeping in

3. place lavender oil under your pillow. 
4. lightly stretch or perform easy yoga before bed
5. turn on a fan and your bed will instantly feel much cozier
6. turn off all the lights in your room; sleeping masks help too
7. avoid usage of blue light emitting electronics at least an hour before bed
8. listen to classical music, white noise, or other soothing sounds before bed
9. read, meditate, deep breathe, or practice other calming exercises before bed
10. think only of good moments when you are laying in bed and let your mind gradually drift off.
