Achievements: -WE BRAINSTORMED, DESIGNED, PLANNED, AND IMPLEMENTED A PERMANENT MURAL PROMOTING SLEEP IN OUR SCHOOL -WE COMMUNICATED BETTER WITH EACH OTHER AS A TEAM AND DIVIDED OUR ROLES MORE EQUALLY -WE EXPANDED AS A CLUB (DIVERSITY IN AGE, ETHNICITY, NUMBER, ETC) AND GREW AS INDIVIDUALS -WE ORGANIZED A FIELD TRIP TO THE GIRLS BUILD EXPO -WE HOSTED MANY WORKSHOPS AND HAD ACTIVITIES FOR OUR MEMBERS TO PARTAKE IN EVERY WEEK
Short-term Goals:
Host 3 more team meetings than last year
Increase people reached in project by 50
Engage with at least 2 more community organizations
Have 25 more members make night routines
Present to 6 more health classes
Short-term Outcomes:
We succeeded in hosting 3 more team meetings than last year, meaning we were able to plan and research more together.
We increased our reach to people by 100 because we were able to give away many stickers to community members.
We engaged with at least 2 more community organizations, including a news station and a case manager.
Instead of night routines, we had our members involved in hands-on activities like blanket making which got them more excited about the importance of sleep.
Instead of presenting to health classes, we decided it would be a more efficient use of our time to participate in school-wide events. Therefore, we were involved with almost every "say-hey" day mental health awareness event at our school in conjunction with the mental health and wellness committee.
Long-term Goals:
We want to create murals in at least 5 different schools and 5 other areas across the city. Ultimately, we hope that people will see our mural and be immediately reminded of how important sleep is. Through our murals we hope more people in our community will be interested in our project and in learning more about different sleep related illnesses. We want our mural to be easy to reproduce, but still look aesthetically pleasing enough to share on social media, so that people will eventually post pictures of our murals, and hence, spread awareness about the importance of sleep through this process.
Long-term Outcomes:
Although we did not create murals in multiple schools, we have created connections that will allow us to sustain our mural making ideas. We have done much of the foundation work to establish murals all across the city. We are proud of the mural currently in our school because while it is fairly simple in theory, the visuals of the mural conveyed the message in a clear and concise way.
